Senior Linux Engineer

Linux systems administration, automation, security and technical quality.

About the role

You take full ownership of the technical quality of Linux environments. You don’t wait until something goes wrong — you build environments so that they can’t go wrong. Automation is your default way of working: you are the architect and owner of the Ansible infrastructure and you continuously build on it. Security is not a side issue, but a core task that you actively take on.

At Asimo Networks you work on stable, secure environments for enterprise organisations and IT parties who cannot afford things to go wrong. You provide direction on technical choices, help colleagues grow and ensure standardisation and scalability in everything you build and manage together.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of the technical quality and stability of Linux environments at enterprise clients.
  • Manage, expand and standardise the Ansible automation.
  • Design and implement security architecture for Linux environments: from hardening and vulnerability management to monitoring and incident response.
  • Proactively identify risks and structurally improve environments before they become problems.
  • Standardise and document configurations and architectures, so that environments remain scalable and manageable.
  • Provide direction to the team: substantiate technical choices, help colleagues develop and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Translate complex client challenges into solid infrastructure solutions, at both strategic and technical level.
  • Manage and optimise Linux environments at clients, both on-premise and in data centres.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience with Linux systems administration in complex, enterprise environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ansible — you have built and managed automation architectures, not just written scripts.
  • Demonstrable security expertise: hardening, vulnerability management, incident response and compliance (preferably experience as or alongside a CISO role).
  • Experience with designing and standardising Linux infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong sense of ownership: you take responsibility for the quality of what you deliver and bring structure where it is still missing.
  • Experience with guiding or coaching fellow engineers.
  • Good communication skills: you switch easily between technical and client-facing conversations.
  • Curious, proactive and focused on structural improvement.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and/or English.
